Invitation to Bar Harbor Music Festival

Peter Michael von der Nahmer is invited as a guest composer to the Bar Harbor Music Festival. His awarded piano quartet "The Monk and the Fish" will be featured on the 2008 New Composers Concerts.

On Tues, July 15, 5:30 PM there will be a Composers Forum (panel discussion about the concert with live excerpts by the New Piano Quartet) together with composers Elliott Schwartz and Festivals Composer in Residence Edmund Cionek.

On Wed., July 16, 8:15 PM the New Piano quartet will perform the full piano quartet.

The Australien well known trio CARISMA just released their new CD "Lily's Eyes" for
which I have written two new pieces for flute, cello and harp.
Other composers include James Horner, Chick Coreo, Johann Pachelbel and many
other from around the world. The CD is produced by Australiens biggest classical
radio station ABC Classic.

Following on from the success of their debut album Whispers, carisma, a unique and
innovative Brisbane based trio of flute, harp and cello are delighted to release their
second album Lily’s Eyes on ABC Atmospheres. ABC Atmospheres is a sub-label of

and classical styles.

Honorable Mention for "The monk and the fish" Performance at the Crouse College,
Syracuse University, NY at the Society for New Music concert on the 28th of
September 2004.

Press Release:
The judges selected 2 honorable mentions, and both will be performed on the same
Society concert Sept. 28th.
Those works are: David Loeb's Tre Romanze for fortepiano, violin, viola and cello,
and Mike von der Nahmer's The monk & the fish for the same instrumental
combination. Mr. Loeb is a New York City based composer and Mr. von der Nahmer
lives in Redondo Beach, CA.

FOA's 2006 International Composition Competition

Peter Michael (Mike) von der Nahmer's orchestra work "Persiflamia" was a finalist in the
"FOA's 2006 International Composition Competition".

The judges said about his piece:
Mike von der Nahmer, "Persiflamia" with viola solo, highly professional score. Seductive. Large and varied instrumentations.

Masterworks Prize

Mike von der Nahmer just recieved the "Masterworks Prize" for his piano quartet "The Monk and the Fish". The piece was chosen from over 315 compositions and will be recorded on the awarded CD Series "Masterworks of a new Era".
It will be recorded with the Kiev Philharmonic in October.

Fellowship for the "Aspen Music Festival and School"

Mike von der Nahmer received a $3200 Fellowship for the "Aspen Music Festival and School" where he will work from June 15 to July 22 with Thomas Haines and Thomas Newman in the "Susan and Ford Schuman Film Scoring Program".
